Genus
Nickerlea
4 species
*Nickerlea* W.Horn, 1899 is a small, metallic tiger beetle endemic to Australia, comprising three species adapted to bare sandy or clay substrates in forested habitats. With a compact body of 7–10 mm and large, protuberant eyes, these nocturnal hunters are finely tuned for life in the shadows of the Australian bush. Activity is triggered by seasonal rainfall during the austral wet season, a striking adaptation to the continent's unpredictable climate.
Diagnosis
DIAGNOSIS — *Nickerlea* W.Horn, 1899 Body small, 7–10 mm, elongate-cylindrical. Head with eyes large, protuberant. Pronotum lacking setae on disc and frons (cf. *Cicindela* s.l.).
