Polyrhanis

Overview

*Polyrhanis* Rivalier, 1963 is a genus of roughly 52 nocturnal tiger beetles endemic to New Guinea and adjacent islands, where adults rest and hunt on tree trunks and branches in forest. Their flattened bodies and dark, matte coloration make them cryptic against bark, and larvae develop within burrows excavated in the same substrate.
