Genus
Socotrana
1 species
*Socotrana* is a monotypic genus of tiger beetle found only on Socotra Island, Yemen — one of the world's most isolated and biologically remarkable archipelagos. This slender, metallic beetle inhabits compacted laterite clearings and represents Socotra's unique contribution to the family Cicindelidae.
Diagnosis
DIAGNOSIS — *Socotrana* Cassola & Wranik, 1998. Body 9.5–10.0 mm, cylindrical, elongate (L:W >3.0), fully winged, metallic. Labrum dagger-shaped; eyes medium. Nocturnal. Substrate: compacted laterite. Monotypic; separated from all continental African Cicindelina by strict Socotran endemism and diagnostic aedeagal morphology.
