Diagnosis & identification
Body large to very large. Head including clypeus and genae entirely, whole pronotal surface and all thoracic sterna and ventrites densely setose.
Similar taxa: Resembles *Abroscelis*, *Antennaria*, *Archidela*
Etymology
From Greek *hypaíthrios* (under the open sky, exposed) — referring to habitat preference for open ground.
