Body 7.7-8.7 mm. Labrum 6-setose (diagnostic — distinguishes from Physodeutera).

Similar taxa: Resembles *Ambalia*, *Bennigsenium*, *Calyptoglossa*

Etymology

From Greek *mégas* (big, large) + *kephalḗ* (head) — referring to the conspicuously broadened head wider than the pronotum.
