DIAGNOSIS — *Pronyssa* Bates, 1874 Body medium (9–14 mm), elongate ant-mimicking habitus typical of Collyridini. Head elongate, longer than wide; eyes large, somewhat laterally directed.
Similar taxa: Resembles *Beckerium*, *Brasiella*, *Cicindela*
Etymology
From Greek *pro-* (forward) + *nyssa* (nymph) — coined name by Bates 1874; possibly evoking the swift-running predatory habits.
