DIAGNOSIS — Therates Latreille, 1816 Body 7–13 mm, elongate-compact forest habitus. Ground color dark with pale maculation.
Similar taxa: Resembles *Abroscelis*, *Antennaria*, *Apteroessa*
Etymology
From Greek *thēratḗs* (hunter, one who hunts) — referring to predatory habits of these arboreal cicindelids.
