DIAGNOSIS — *Trichotaenia* Rivalier, 1969 Body small to medium (7–12 mm), elongate-cursorial habitus. Head wider than pronotum; eyes large, protuberant.

Etymology
From Greek *thríx/trichós* (hair) + *tainía* (ribbon, band) — "with hairy band".
