Diagnosis

DIAGNOSIS — *Jundlandia* Duran & Gough, 2022 Body small (8–11 mm); habitus elongate-oval, somewhat depressed. Head wider than pronotum; eyes large, strongly protruding. Mandibles relatively short and curved. Pronotum slightly transverse, sides convex, with distinct supralateral setae. Elytra parallel-sided to slightly widened posteriorly, with characteristic maculation: a longitudinal cream-colored band along the humeral region (the "ribbon") and a more typical pattern of marginal and discal markings; ground color brown-bronze with fine metallic reflections. Legs slender, mid-femora unmodified. Aedeagus with internal sac armament distinct from Dromochorus, Ellipsoptera, Brasiella and Parvindela. Distinguished from *Parvindela* (the sister-clade lineage) by larger body size, distinctive elytral "ribbon" maculation, and aedeagal armament. Distinguished from *Cylindera* (where it had been placed) by overall body proportions, mandibular shape and molecular data. Habitat: open alkali flats, salt pans, dry creek beds in arid southwestern North America. Active diurnally during summer monsoon season.
